Factors of Authentication

I've been spending a lot of time doing online-type stuff lately. Not social media or anything, just building websites, tools, campaigns, doing banking, watching crypto disappear and reappear, creating NFT's, and all the other digital flotsam and jetsam one finds tooling around the Internet. I have to login and out of a lot of things so I have 2FA (Two Factor Authentication) setup for everything as well as what I will now coin as 4FA.

What is 4FA you ask? It stands for, "For Fucksake Authentication". 4FA happens when I forget my password, then find my password but enter it wrong, followed by entering my correct password but have the username wrong, which leads to finally getting it right only to have a bot send a code to my phone or in the worst case scenario it asks me to use an authenticator app that has conveniently forgotten everything it knows when I got my new phone. 4FA I only want to order Skip the Dishes.

For. Fucksake.

I say this phrase a lot sitting in front of my computer and staring at my phone. There are many ways in which I say it, "ferfuxsakes" and "FAAAKsakes" are two of the regulars, I reserve "FOR fuuuuuck SAKES" for when it is really bad and this is usually accompanied by an eyeroll that nearly knocks me unconscious.

I'm all for cyber security and have all the tools one should have but some days the layers upon layers of security is mind-numbing. It makes me really appreciate Apple Face ID for it's simplicity, except when it catches me yawning, or staring blankly into space. I often wonder if there is a repository of FACES from logins somewhere, and if there's a gallery people can visit to see our finest moments.
