Pawlitzer Prize for Lifetime Literary Achievement

It is my pleasure to write the letter of recommendation for Newton MacLean. In no way am I being forced or coerced to write this. Newton is more than just a fine cat. He is a cat of exemplary character and very deserving of the Pawlitzer Prize for Lifetime Literary Achievement.

His book "Ode To Myself" is a masterful collection of feline poetry that should adorn your nation's libraries, perhaps even be on display when you first walk in and behind glass.

Besides being a talented poet, Mr. MacLean is an expert at catching toy mice and bringing them to me while I'm working—selflessly ensuring I don't work too hard or too long. He also helps me keep moving during the day by keeping a tight belly rub schedule. I've learned that it's essential to our creative process that he receives these rubs promptly and the correct number of rubs are given. But, of course, only he knows the correct number. Genius. If I had even half the talent of this great cat, I would be a happy man.

Mr. MacLean is also generous with his knowledge and has taken great pains to teach me the "Supper Time" song. Once I mastered the song, he then took time out of his day to educate me on the perfect procedure for making his dinner. Selfless.

He also checks every door to ensure the weather is the same in the front yard, the back yard, and off the deck. You might be asking yourself, "Where does he find the time to write such eloquent verse?" And, sadly, I have no answer. It's almost as if he can bend space and time. He truly is the master of the Universe. These are my words, not his. Genius, thy name is Newton.

I humbly support Newton "Master of the Universe and Literary Super Hero" MacLean's Pawlitzer Prize.

Sincerely,

Michael Dargie
