Glass Beach
The beach is named for the sea glass people find there. Apparently many people do find it. I have a hard enough time spotting a striped rock on a beach of striped rocks.

The picture featured here is one I took for Jenn on my last trip to Vancouver Island, in a small town named Sidney by the Sea. I took the shot from the path above Glass Beach (not pictured), facing east toward one of the many Fish 'N Chips restaurants and stands scattered throughout this wee burg.
I'm sure she won't mind me sharing it with you.
The name Glass Beach comes from the abundance of smooth, frosted sea glass people find there. Apparently many people find this sea glass, but not me. I have a hard enough time finding a striped rock on a beach of striped rocks to toss into the sea. Reports vary on where the alleged glass of the beach came from: some say a glass factory that burned down in the '50s, others say merchant sailors tossing glassware overboard, and still others say garbage scows dumping town garbage in Sidney Channel.

I'm not sure which is true, or maybe there's a pebble of truth in all of them. What I do know for certain is that it is a lovely bit of Canada. I also know that I'm a disappointment to many who know me in that I do not like Fish 'N Chips. I like chips just fine, and batter is a food group in my opinion, but fish just isn't my thing.
Where is “Ye Olde Batter ‘N Chip Shoppe” when you need it?
On this trip, the only things I took home were great memories of incredible vistas and kind people, and a quick pic of a moment of a place in time.
No sea glass, obviously. And the glamour shot of the Fish 'N Chips shoppe I'll never visit, framed by brilliant red flowers I only stopped to smell, tells the tale: you don't need to own or consume a thing for it to matter.
I hope you like it.
