Cat Sisters

Mabel loves shoes and adventure. She has a sister, Charlie. Once upon a time, just under two years ago, they were rescued from a snowbank where some shitty human had dumped them. A friend of ours, Mitch Belot, and his incredible people brought them in as tiny kittens and raised them alongside horses and giant dogs until they were old enough to be adopted.

The two of them were inseparable, so clearly they had to come home with us together. You don't separate soulmates.

Charlie and Mabel are the best of friends, dear sisters, and mortal enemies, depending on the day. They annoy each other, snuggle each other, fight over toys and attention, but most of all they love each other.

They couldn't be more different. Charlie is a tuxedo cat; she checks things out first and makes sure it's okay for her sister. She is the James Bond of the team. Mabel is more Simon Pegg sponsored by Red Bull.

Mabel's happy place is cuddling a shoe or the Canadian flag on our windowsill. Charlie loves her fuzzy armchair or the top shelf of the cat tree.

Charlie curls up on my chest for chin scratches while I work; Mabel appears upside down, stuck in the ceiling.

Charlie will curl into my knees at night and purr; Mabel does flying dragon kicks off the wall, murders a sock, and runs sideways up the stairs.

They are both important to the balance of the universe.
