National Find a Rainbow Day

National Find a Rainbow Day.

Did you know that today is National Find a Rainbow Day? Neither did I. Turns out that Aristotle was really into them, as was Seneca the Younger and thousands of other notable humans across the ages, including Sir Isaac Newton and (who could forget) Paul "Bear" Vasquez.

I really have nothing else to offer in this post other than to say that we've been looking at these phenomena for thousands of years, interpreting them, trying to make sense of them, and making scientific and mathematical models of them. I submit that we still have a lot to learn about them beyond colour, light theory, and prisms. Maybe there's a little more magic here than we appreciate.

So today—should you see a wild rainbow—it might be a good idea to jump on your bicycle and chase it, stopping only to jump in puddles. Or, if you aren't into the chase, just take a page out of Vasquez's book and just enjoy it for what it is. Maybe you'll even see a double-rainbow.
